Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy is a broad treatment strategy where your physical therapist will provide hands on treatment to improve overall motion and decrease pain. Manual Therapy may include:
Soft Tissue Mobilization/Massage:
Hands on techniques intended to provide the nervous system the ability to improve tissue mobility, flexibility, increase blood flow, and overall decrease pain. Specific techniques such as Active Release Therapy and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization such as the Graston Technique are regularly utilized.
Joint Mobilizations:
Hands on techniques that gently move/oscillate your joints to provide the nervous system the ability to relax the tissue surrounding the joint therefore allowing the joints to move freely with less or no pain.
Joint Manipulations/Osteopathic Manipulation:
Techniques that are high velocity/low amplitude (small motions) to improve range of motion and decrease pain. These are safe techniques, which are seldom needed, that may produce the familiar “audible crack/pop” associated with end range mobilization/manipulation.
Active Care
Therapeutic Exercises:
Exercises that focus on improving motion and strength. These are prescribed specifically for each individual and their diagnosis and progressed accordingly.
(Not generic reps of 3 X 10 for all exercises)
Neuromuscular Re-education Exercises:
Exercises that promote stability and control of motions to restore and develop normal movement patterns.
Neuromuscular Re-education Exercises:
Exercises that promote stability and control of motions to restore and develop normal movement patterns.
